The Marengo and Union Holiday Housewalk Craft Fair is organized by a volunteer group of crafters who are residents from Marengo and surrounding townships.

The Committee is a Not-for-Profit group which meets regularly to plan and manage the event.

The event started out in 1991 as the "Winter Walk" where residents decorated their house for Christmas and residents and visitors walked around the streets of Marengo admiring the wonderful decorations.  In the early years, many of the house residents provided refreshments for the visitors with some of the savvy home owners also selling Christmas crafts.

Over time this became a very popular pre-Christmas event in Marengo.  As the number of houses participating started to decrease the organizers decided to incorporate a formal art and craft event for those local residents that didn't want to participate in the walk but still wanted to showcase and sell their handmade items.

So, the formal Marengo and Union Holiday Craft Fair was born.
